Ascension
An expansive composition of ascending branches and sweeping organic curves, combining movement with a poised architectural silhouette.
Ascension seems to grow before your eyes. From a base of broad, layered plates, a single serpentine trunk winds upward through 132 centimetres, throwing out arm after arm as it climbs. Each branch forks, turns and reaches in its own direction, yet the whole resolves into one poised, architectural silhouette, as if the wood were caught mid-movement on its way towards the light. No hand guided these curves. They are the record of a root finding its path through the earth, now turned upright and given to the air. Walk around it and the branches re-arrange themselves, opening new spaces and closing others with every step.
