Presence
An open, restrained form distinguished by slender upward-reaching elements and a sweeping V-shaped structure.
Presence is a study in restraint. From a gnarled, rooted base, two slender limbs part in a sweeping V, leaving open sky between them. One stays low and contained; the other climbs higher, narrowing and twisting until it ends in a flicker of form like a rising flame. Little is wasted here. The space around the wood matters as much as the wood itself, and the sculpture draws the eye upward through 137 centimetres of quiet, deliberate tension. It is the kind of piece that commands a room without filling it.
