Relic
A sculptural arrangement of weathered contours, natural arches and branching extensions, suggestive of an unearthed relic.
Relic looks as though it has been unearthed. Weathered limbs cross and re-cross as they rise through 118 centimetres, forming natural arches and narrow passages before opening into a crown of forked, reaching branches. Its contours are worn smooth in places and fissured in others, giving it the character of something ancient, found rather than made. There is a quiet drama in its structure, a sense of strength gathered at the base and released at the top. It invites the imagination to fill in its history, which is exactly what makes it so compelling.
